Important Announcement

Welcome to the new and improved ArifZefen.com.  As some of you are already aware from our announcements on the old site, the bandwidth required to keep this site alive has become more and more expensive as the site grew more popular.  Most of this was mainly caused by the fact that listening to just the first few seconds of a song was just as costly as listening to an entire song, in terms of bandwidth use.  There was also the issue of intellectual property that was considerably harder to tackle without a streaming player.  Becase of these reasons, we had to redesign the player to use a a smater custom discrete streamer which chops up the songs into multiple segments.  This allows us to selectively stream only the segments you're intersted in hearing and saves us tons of bandwidth over the long run.  Since this player is using flash in a slightly unconventional way, we expect it to have its issues and we'll leave it to the users to find them and report them to us.

One of the several changes you'll see is a "MY QUOTA" block on the right hand side of each page.  Once again, because we're not able to continue buying more and more bandwidth at our current rate, we've decided to institute a quota system to encourage fair and more conservative use of bandwidth from all our users.  All new accounts will be allocated with 350MB of bandwidth, to be renewed every week.  This quota is still under evaluation and may be increased or decreased after we evaluate how this is working out for everyone. 

We want to give users the incentive to add to the collection so every song that's uploaded will be rewarded with a quota increase that will be reflected in the weekly renewals.  This reward will be applicable to only the first 15 songs uploaded by the user.

If you have exceeded your quota, you will only be able to listen to the first half of any song.  If you think your quota went over the limit too quickly, you should feel free to contact us so we can investigate.  Unregistered users can also listen to the first half of any song as long as it's already on the default playlist (most recently added songs).

• If you're a new user or a returning user that has never added to the collection, please register as a new user and start enjoying the collection.  Please remember to provide your zip code if you are a user based in the US.

• If you're a returning user that has previously added to the collection, please use the request password feature to reset your password.  The quota rewards from the songs you've uploaded in the past should be retroactively applied to your current weekly quota.  If the number for your total quota doesn't reflect this please contact us.
